The action of the play takes place in three bedrooms: the yuppie bedroom of Nick and Jan’s flat is seen simultaneously with that of Malcolm and Kate in their newly acquired brick terraced house and Ernest and Delia’s bedroom in their comfortable Victorian pile. The domestic harmony in each house is shattered by visits from the neurotic Susannah and the selfish Trevor who as a result of their marital squabbles disrupt their friends’ sleeping hours with hilarious consequences.
