Since 'Gaslight' was first published as an acting edition in 1939 it has been reprinted twenty four times, the last time in 1999, and is in the Harrap's 'Book of 1000 Plays' most performed.
Two films have been made based on 'Gaslight', the first produced in England in 1939 starring Anton Walbrook and Diana Wynyard. The British film was followed by a Hollywood version in 1944 with a star-studded cast including Ingrid Bergman, Charles Boyer and Joseph Cotton.
