The Queen's husband takes his redundancy badly, her beautiful daughter-in-law beguiles every man who comes near her except her husband from whom she is separated, and her sister reaches an understanding with criminal elements on the estate. This hilarious satire, based on Sue Townsend's best-selling novel, explores the broken promises of the welfare state.
